Speed traps are designed to magnify our faults by catching us driving too fast when we should be going slower. Much like how a cop uses a speed trap, life itself and the culture around us functions in a very similar way… it magnifies our faults by leading us to go too fast when we should be going slower.
The thought of slowing down seems like an impossible task in our culture today. We all feel the pull to go faster and keep up with everyone around us, but what if we could let Jesus lean into our busyness? Perhaps He may show us a different way to live and be more intentional as we live, work, and play. Starting this Sunday, we will begin a new teaching focus called “Speed Trap” that will encourage and challenge us to examine our pace and allow Jesus to be the one who determines the speed at which we live!
