Josh Duncan

Lead Pastor

Josh’s passion is to see people reach their potential in Jesus as they become disciples who can multiply disciples. He believes each person can make an impact for God’s Kingdom where they live, work, and play. Prior to coming to The Grove, Josh served as a youth pastor in two different churches, planted a church in Knoxville, and served as a Lead Pastor in Michigan. He also coaches church planters through the Ignite Church Planting Network. Josh is a graduate of Tennessee Tech University and Liberty Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two boys, Kaden and Kolton. Jennifer is an RN. Kaden is a sports enthusiast who plays baseball and basketball. Kolton is a marine biologist in the making and can tell you anything you want to know about ocean animals. As a family, they enjoy hiking to waterfalls, camping, and all things related to the Tennessee Vols and Atlanta Braves.

Scott Sparks

Founding and Teaching Pastor

Scott and his wife Penny are proud and blessed to call Knoxville their home. They have three sons; Nate who attends the University of Tennessee, Cooper, a student at Halls High School, and Brodie who attends Halls Middle School. They love Knoxville, the people, the culture, the land, and the food. One of the greatest joys and journeys of their lives has been saying yes to God’s invitation to start a church in Knoxville. Scott graduated from the University of North Carolina and Southwestern Seminary. Before starting The Grove, Scott served as a college pastor for ten years and has now been serving as a pastor for eleven. Scott believes that is is God’s providence to bless man with good coffee and Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Trent Berry

Worship Leader

Trent is originally from Lenoir City, and currently lives in Oak Ridge. Trent enjoyed playing football and racing dirt bikes before discovering his musical passion. He played trumpet, was in the drum line, and served as captain of the marching band at Lenoir City High School. He studied music at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul in St. Paul, Minnesota before deciding to pursue worship ministry. When he is not playing music, he works as a manager at KARM Thrift Stores, and is a diehard University of Tennessee Volunteer and Kansas City Chiefs football fan!

Deborah Justice

Grove Kids Pastor

Deborah serves in our children’s ministry as our Grove Kids Pastor. Deborah and her husband Mark live in the Halls community and have three children. Their son Tanner is a student at UT, and daughter Mackenzie and son Tolliver both attend Halls High School. Deborah enjoys being involved in the lives of her children, photography, and searching for “new” antique treasures for her home.

Sandra Hall

Staff Assistant

Sandra serves as The Grove’s Guest Services Director and Staff Assistant. Sandra and her husband George have lived in the Halls community for over 25 years. George is retired from teaching and coaching at Halls, and is now in his second career as a golf professional. They have two children; Lesley, an ETSU graduate working in fashion merchandising, and Andrew, currently attending college on a golf scholarship. Sandra is a graduate of Carson Newman College, and formerly owned her own scrapbook retail store. Sandra loves nature and sports photography, watching Andrew play golf, shopping with Lesley, paper crafts, and surfing Pinterest for her next craft/home/cooking project.
